So I've been gone for a little more than day for the second or third time in a row. I think my cat is getting used to it--I might be able to use that to my advantage later.
This time I was at Lake Whitney State Park, airport F50. The Flying Club took 4 planes and landed and drank and ate a lot and just kind of sat around being goofs. It was pretty cool.
Longer post later maybe but here are some highlights:
- Robert's new nickname is Queen Mosquito. He doesn't want to be called Peaches anymore.
- Biggest Drunk Award goes to Jeremey, by far. I've never seen anyone give someone else really bad and ambiguous but enthusiastic advice for six hours straight before.
- Jason + Lighter Fluid is a combination that scare me.
- I'm still an enormous dumbass and need to actually start using sunblock. My worst burns are neck and the back of my legs (the fuck did that happen?!)
- So uh, guys.... (it's refreshing to be in a group where I'm not the by far weirdest one)
- Clem Mikeska's barbecue in Temple is actually pretty good. For that matter, so are Costco fajitas and hamburgers cooked over a campfire.
- My VFR pilotage skills are still there but I have trouble holding altitude/heading when I don't give a shit. +/- 30 degrees and 300 feet is within standards, right guys?
- I think controllers like it when you give them suggestions. When I got to Bergstrom I hauled ass down the runway and finally asked the guy if he wanted me off at Golf--he said take the first one and I was like DONE. Hopefully I didn't delay that Southwest too too long.
That's what I remember right now. You UFC guys--keep in touch, you have my info. I'll be more than happy to go do stuff in the Houston area and every so often I'll probably be up in Austin so maybe I'll be able to score a spot now and then.
For people who want to keep up with me by way of this blog: that might not be the best of ideas! Things are looking up instead of bleak and so I'm motivated less to dwell and write about stuff that's going on. There's a girl I like who likes me back! I might have a job soon! Holy shit!
Anyways.
Squawk 1 2 0 0 and switch to advisory. Good day!
